Inspired by refugees, respect for human rights, community initiatives, and earth wisdom. Born in Zimbabwe, raised in Singapore, Ecuador, Japan, Russia and Hungary, with a current base in Bangkok, Thailand, characterized by constant travel to Argentina and Canada. Like a snail, my home is carried with me in the shell of my writing.
Humanitarian reporters document all of the things people lose: their loved ones to violence, their bodies to hunger, their dignity to abuse, their houses to disaster, their children to armies. Amidst the throes of conflict, climate change, and parched economies, the human impact is vast and diverse. Finding the words to articulate messy situations, capturing an unexplored angle on the dynamic impact of events requiring humanitarian action, and delving into the resilience, initiatives, and needs of communities and the aid workers who partner with them, is my passion as a journalist.
